Today I’m sharing something a little different but first a little background. For a while now I’ve felt that I wanted to make some changes to how I approach my project life. A few things have got me thinking about this. I’ve started subbing to Ali Edwards Story Kits after I fell in love with the Build kit and which I have specific plans for (more on that another time). Also completing my week in the life album made me think I should try and get more journaling into my Project Life album.
So I’ve changed a few things. I’ve cancelled my Studio Calico Project Life subscription. I will probably buy their digital cards instead and maybe the odd physical kit now and then. And instead of my sub there I’ve started subbing to the Story Kit and Story Stamp from Ali Edwards. As I’ve already mentioned in previous posts I’ve moved to a more hybrid approach to my memory keeping and I’m loving the flexibility it gives me as if I don’t like part of a design or need it in another colour I can change it. I’m also liking the option to add journaling digitally. While it’s not as personal as handwriting it lets me fit more text in and therefore tell more of a story. And finally I’m going to try experimenting with more scrapbook like project life pages. I don't think I’ll start making 12x12 traditional layouts but I like the option of using a full page to tell more of a story when I feel the need.
Which leads me to the spread I’m sharing today. I used the Black & White Story kit to record some situations we’re currently facing and that all relate to accepting that life isn’t black & white and trying to learn to live with the grey areas of not having all the answers right now or knowing how things will turn out.
On the left hand page I used a full page of journalling to record my thoughts and feelings. As a background I used some digital paper from Studio Calico that started out pink but that I changed to grey in photoshop. I used the ‘it is what it is’ chipboard piece as that sums up perfectly that some of the current situations we’re facing are what they are and we can do little to change them. I finally I added some of the tape from the kit as the pairings of opposites seemed to fit well too.
On the right hand page I used a selfie I took of us in the car in August. We were deep in thought about future plans and so I used that as that is one of the uncertainties in our lives right now. I used Radlab to change the photo to black and white, printed the photo on white card stock to give a different look and then added another chipboard piece from the kit. Finally I used the 4x6 journalling card with the Harry Potter quote about choosing how you act. I love this card as it’s a reminder that you get to choose how you act in life and that applies to situations too; you might not be able to control the situation but you can choose how you react to it.
