Today I’m sharing a spread from a new project I started earlier in the year. I’ve mentioned in the past that we’re planning on moving to a different part of the country in a few years. I’ve documented parts of the story already in my project life and Week in the Life albums but when I saw Ali Edwards Build story kit it gave me the idea to create an album that covers the whole story from start to finish. So much of the kit was perfect to document this story plus with the digital versions of the kit I can continue to use the kit over the couple of years that I’ll be documenting and keep a certain amount of continuity throughout the album. Plus I love the colours of the kit which is a bonus!
I want to record a lot of our thoughts and experiences in the album so I decided to go for a larger format and went with a 6x12 album. It’s not an easy album size to find in the UK and I ended up with a gold album which was a little more bling than I wanted but was the only option I could get at the time!
This spread covers our first trip up to Norwich to see what we thought to the area. On the left hand page I used a 4x6 digital journaling card that I changed by removing the design that was on the left hand side of the card and replacing it with the ‘our story starts here’ design from a card in the Sparks digital kit. I recoloured the left hand side and added journaling in photoshop and to finish added an enamel dot to tie in with the other colours in the spread. On the rest of the lefthand side I added photos from the places we visited along with the ‘we are made of these moments’ 4x6 filler card that I cut down to 3x4 and the currently card. On the currently card I used a dotty line stamp to add lines and then added journaling.
On the righthand page I used a 4x6 journaling card to write the details of the trip. Underneath I made a filler card using Ali Edwards ‘Thick Month’ digital brushes. I’d planned to stamp the dates of the trip but that was a complete fail as on my first attempt the roller stamp didn’t stamp cleanly! Rather than bin the card and start again I decided to go with it and stamped the dates repeatedly. I then added a raw chipboard piece from the Spark kit and added a wood veneer geotag on top. The final pocket is a 4x6 journaling card that I printed and then cut around the outline of ‘love that’ and ‘love this’ so that I could slip the two photos underneath.
