I really went for it with the red theme on this Valentine's week spread! I was partially swayed by a challenge on Studio Calico to use just three colours on a project so I opted for red, pink and treated black & white as one neutral colour. My choice for these colours mainly came from the photo I’d taken of the chocolates I got for Valentine’s day.
At the start of the week we had a day off together and we spent it in London. Andy had heard about an old Victorian Public Toilets that had been turned into a coffee bar. Most of these old toilets are closed but with space and property at a premium in London more are being renovated for other uses (bars, apartments). The coffee bar we visited is called ‘The Attendant’ which is a reference to the days when most public toilets had attendants. Inside they had kept the old Victorian tiling, the attendants office and also the urinals which had been incorporated into a bar seating area, sort of creating mini booths. I hope this doesn’t sound too grim and it’s all obviously been throughly cleaned!
I didn’t take many photos during the day so focused on the photos I had of outside of The Attendant and a photo of the coffee and cake we had there. I played around with different bits and pieces for the rest of the page using stamps and scraps from my stash to create little filler cards, journalling etc.
The right hand page documents the rest of the week. Our heating and hot water broke down so to have a bath we had to resort to boiling up pans of water which I snapped a photo of. I cut up a PL card from Studio Calico that said ‘all that I need today is’ and added heating that works!
At the end of the week I met friends after work for drinks. I used the ‘step aside coffee this is a job for alcohol’ stamp from Kellie Stamps Epic set to create a PL card using a blank PL card and some more scrap paper from my stash.
Valentine’s day itself was quiet as Andy worked it but we had the evening together. I used a PL card from my stash to record the day but as I didn’t fancy my chances of getting my typing spot on so I typed onto paper which I then cut out and stuck onto the card. I date stamped a little scrap of paper and added it to the top of the card to finish it. The final card on the page is a Studio Calico PL card with a photo of the chocolates Andy gave me. I added a heart that came with Studio Calico's Far Far Away Project Life kit and stamped Delicious onto another little scrap of paper.
