This year I’ve decided to take Ali Edwards One Little Word class again. Unlike previous years I also plan to try complete the entire 12 months! I’ve taken the class twice before but never really got going with the prompts. I’m not even sure if I ever settled on a word the first year. Last year I picked Explore as my word, and while I only completed a few prompts, my word did feel like it stuck around and was always there in the background.
I’m therefore hoping that this year is third time lucky and that I will be more successful and complete all 12 prompts. So far this year does feel different to the last two years and I feel sort of locked into the project. And my word, choose, already seems to be challenging me in good ways.
The reason I picked choose is that I feel that this year will be about learning to choose wisely. If things go to plan we’ll be making quite a lot of changes in our lives, possibly living part-time in two places, which will take some co-ordinating, and I think choosing what our priorities are will be key to making it work. I know I will need to choose to let some things go and accept that that everything does not have to be done at once. As the saying goes - choose progress over perfection!
I also want to work on choosing to see the best in situations as I often worry unnecessarily about things, which doesn’t help and just adds extra stress to my life. Something that Brandi shared on Instagram a few weeks ago got me thinking about choosing to think what is the best that could happen instead of what is the worst.
I would also like to work on making better choices for my health. I got a bit lazy last year about what I ate and my waistline has suffered for it! So this year I want to try and choose healthier options; less treats, more getting up and moving.
As well I working on a One Little Word album this year I’ve also treated myself to the pocket talisman pictured in the photo above. I plan to carry this with me each day as a reminder of my word.
I’m looking forward to seeing how things go with my word this year. I have already completed my pages for the January prompt and will share them later this week.
