As I mentioned at the start of the year I was thinking about not completing my Project Life spreads in any chronological order, which has been the approach I settled on. Sometimes I document more recent events but other times I go back and document a period from earlier in the year. This has left some gaps in my album so I’ve made a list of the periods and events I’ve not documented yet and I have worked on a few of them recently. I’m not too worried about having to have all the gaps filled in before the end of the year or if I even skip some. I’m pretty happy with how my album is looking so far and it’s more than enough to document what our lives look like in 2016.
Another benefit of not recording in chronologically is that you never know what new supplies might be released that work well with your photos. The Lost River kit from Studio Calico, which was their September kit, was a really good match for the greens in my photos.
I wanted to include a patterned card in the spread to break things up a bit as most of my other cards had a lot of white space. I didn’t find a green patterned card in my digital stash so instead I looked for a design that I could recolour green. This patterned card is actually from the Deco 8 December Daily Mini kit. Pnce printed I added the ‘outdoors’ acyclic embellishment that I have been hoarding for ages. And on the ‘outdoorsy indoorsy’ card I used a yellow enamel dot.
When I want to recolour cards I often pick a colour from another card in the kit and use that to recolour the card I want to change. The Lost River kit included some yellows so I picked that colour and used it on the ‘Weekday Venture’ card, then also to add some colour to the ‘Seen & Noted’ card.
For the 6x4 card I picked the dark green tree on the ‘outdoorsy indoorsy’ card and then used the Lost River digital stamp to add ‘The Great Outdoors’.
