I’d hoped to be much further along with this project but getting a cold scuppered that plan! But I did manage to still go out and do Christmassy things so at least my December Daily pages won’t all be all photos of me stuck at home sick!
This year I opted for a 4x6 album. I don’t always love this size, which I’ve used for a few projects before, but I’m really enjoying using it this time. It feels much more manageable for me. I’ve used 6x8 twice for my December Daily and while I never forced myself to do a page a day, I still found myself feeling I needed extra photos or filler cards to fill in gaps. So far with the 4x6 I’ve found the smaller size solves that issue.
Kit wise I’m using the physical Paislee Press mini kit and the main kit from Ali Edwards. I also have December Daily items from past kits and bits & pieces that I pulled out of my stash. I also have access to the digital versions of the December Daily kits so I’ll be using them as well. Everything I’m using will be linked down at the bottom of this post.
It’s almost a Christmas miracle that I have my title page done! I’m just not a fan of creating title pages and I often put them off until the end of a project. But this time I’ve created a title page at the start. I used a page protector with 2x2 pockets so I could use a mix of paper and transparencies. On the transparencies I added wood veneer embellishments. I resized the digital version of the ’find joy in all thing’ card from the Paislee Press kit to fit 2x2. In another square I used some wrapping paper and added a chipboard star. The square withe gold star is piece of patterned paper and the star is a seal from a Christmas card that I kept from a previous year. In the final pocket I used the digital version of one of the tags from Ali’s main kit but changed the bauble using the graphic from these digital Holiday Chipboard Shapes.
Next is my intro page. On the lefthand side I used 2x2 photos of the Christmas shopping we’d done before December. On the right I used the details card and December card from the Paislee Press kit. The details card to record a few of the things that have or will happen this year.
For day 1 I used one of the digital cards from the Decor8 mini kit and recoloured the dots green to pick out the green in the photo. Like a lot of people I’ll be using a mix of numbers in the album as Ali is this year. Today I used one of the chipboard numbers from the maim kit that I’ve painted gold. The ‘Baby it’s cold outside’ card is a freebie from BCKUESER which I edited slightly to look more like kraft paper.
I had no photo for day 2 but I did have a screenshot of my walk from my office to the restaurant I was meeting friends at. So I used that and it worked quite well as the story of the day turned out to be about walking a lot. I added my journaling on a 3x4 card and used a digital stamp at the top. In the 4x6 pocket I used the grey tartan digital card from Jasmine Jones mini kit and added a large 2 and gold stickers from my stash. Under the gold stickers I used a cream word strip that came in Surprise Story Kit.
For day 3 I wanted to use a 4x6 photo on the left hand side, but the page protector I’d used teh day before was a 2 3x4 pocket one, so I simply cut the photo in half and I used adhesive tape to stick on the chipboard piece which I left white this time. On the right hand page I repeated a page I created last year which documented the different wrapping papers that our presents had been wrapped in. I may do that again this year as well, but for day 3 I used it to document the wrapping papers we are using to wrap other peoples presents. In one rectangle I added a little journaling and in the top middle rectangle I used the parcels stamp from the Calm & Bright set from Feed Your Craft.
The card isn’t in a page protector as I liked the look of seeing more of the texture of the wrapping papers. So I added a scrap of transparency to extend the card so that it lined up wth the page protectors in the album. The gold gift tag tied into the album is one my husband made a mistake on. He added Happy Birthday instead of Happy Christmas. It made us laugh so I added it to the album as a reminder.
For day 4 I used a 4x6 photo to cover the back of the wrapping paper page. And I used digital cards from the Jasmine Jones and Paislee Press kits. Once printed I added the star pattern on my journaling card with a stamp and the ‘connecting with others’ is a stamp from the Christmas Phrases stamp set. The number 4 tag is from a set I picked up in Ikea for £1. I think these tags win my best December Daily bargain award this year!
