Today I’m sharing the final pages form my December Daily. Most years I go all the way to the end of December as is in the UK Christmas doesn’t really end for us until Twelfth Night so stopping on the 25th feels a bit premature.
For day 19 I documented the cards I was sending this year. On the lefthand side I cut one of the cards to fit a 4x6 pocket and on the right I used a 3x4 page protector to add my journaling and number for the day (which are cut from number tags from Ikea).
Since I started doing December Daily albums I’ve always made a page or card that uses envelopes from the Christmas cards we get. This year with us living between two places we got cards at both addresses, so I made an insert with envelopes from one place one side, and the other place on the reverse. So day 20 is one side of that insert and my journaling is in the back of the 3x4 pocket from day 19.
Day 21 is the reverse of the insert and on the right hand side I created a 4x6 card for my journaling, using the house pattern from one of the digital cards in Jasmine Jones’s kit, and added the chipboard number.
The photo for day 22 might seem a bit odd but it tells the story of our boiler being condemned and turned off. Two days before Christmas is not when you want this to happen and the earliest it could be replaced was 3rd Jan! So no heating over Christmas (luckily we have a gas fire in our living room). So I took a photo of the stupid thing looking festive with the fairy lights I’d put up in our kitchen. And on the righthand side the ‘baby, it’s cold outside’ card from Push Print Studio was perfect for this story with a little editing. In Photoshop I removed the ‘out’ from outside by painting it black. Then I used some gold stickers from my stash to add ‘in’.
Day 23 was a busy day running around getting things ready for Christmas. I used a photo I took when we picked up our turkey from the local farm and then a photo of our evening meal as it looked quite Christmassy. I kept this day really simple with a plain journal card and the only embellishment is a gold & kraft label and some number stickers.
Christmas Eve was a day off for both of us and we walked to a favourite cafe. I used a photo I took of our spiced hot chocolates and used the plaid pattern from a Sahin Designs kit as a filler along with a chipboard number. My journaling in in another 3x4 pocket and I added a stamp once it was printed.
On the back of the 3x4 pocket I created a filler card using kraft cardstock and stamped a pattern using some stamps from Feed Your Craft. On the right is the start of day 25. I used a transparency with a Christmas tree pattern and two large wooden numbers that I embossed, over a 4x6 photo of a close up of our Christmas tree.
For the main spread for Christmas Day I used a 4x6 photo of our presents and added a gold die cut label over the top. I wanted to add some private journaling so I used a red envelope from my stash and added some stamping.
On the back of the envelope I used some of the ribbon I’d kept from a present from my Mum. I used it to make it look like a wrapped parcel and added a shipboard star. On the right I used some patterned paper and included a tag from one of my presents. And next to that is a Instagram template card that includes the photo I shared on Instagram on Christmas Day.
Day 26 was the calm after the storm. I included some journaling about the day and then a photo of our tree and also a photo of us chilling on the sofa at the end of the day. I also used one of the transparencies from the Paislee Press kit and used a glittered chipboard star and number stickers to add the number for the day.
On day 27 we went out for a walk to a local Country Park. I used a 4x6 photo Andy took of me and added a word strip and tiny chipboard star. On my journaling card for the day I used one of the chipboard numbers from Ali’s main kit. I’d started playing around with mixing embossing powders and trying ombre effects and for this number I used mixed silver & gold powder and tried to get a slight ombre effect.
Less happened on days 28 & 29 as I worked both days and Andy worked one day. He had to drive back for his job so I included a map of us being in different places. I used another label and number stickers to add the number for the day and on my journaling card I stamped the ‘rise & shine’ stamp onto some vellum, before cutting it out and stapling to the journal card.
Day 29 I used the ‘by the fire’ card from Jasmine Jones kit to tell the story of the lack of heating starting to get tiresome and having to spend most the day in one room next to our fire to keep warm. On this chipboard number experiment I tried ombre effect with gold and silver embossing powders.
Day 30 was a day off for both of us and we went into Norwich to look at the sales. For this spread I included a photo and the hustle & bustle is from a graphic on a digital card from Jasmine Jones kit. In the 4x6 pocket I used some wrapping paper I bought in late November. I bought it especially for use in this album as it’s design is buildings from Norwich and I love that it’s something Christmassy and local. Over the wrapping paper I added my number for the day (silver/gold mixed embossing powder this time) and a little grey word strip from my stash.
And finally day 31. We’re not really ones for big parties and usually we have New Year’s Eve at home, with some good quality cheese and red wine and we just relax. For this spread I included a photo of my wine glass and a journaling card. Again after it was printed I added stamping, this time combining two stamps. On the right hand side I used a 4x6 card that came in a past Messy Box. I embossed the chipboard number and used a word strip underneath. Then I used the Month by Month and Day by Day stamp sets from Kelly Purkey to add 2016 & 2017. In between I used a silver triangle chipboard piece.
And that is the end! I’ve really enjoyed working in a 4x6 album and I may be a convert for future years. I hope you enjoyed seeing my album and thanks for checking it out!
